Can you have any greater dramatic irony in a chapter?! Durrin comes face-to-face with the daughter of the man he assassinated! Then he comes face-to-face with the only soldier that watched him do it!

You can't really blame Volthorn for not believing Durrin. Trust has to be earned, and at this point in the story, Durrin has a negative balance on the trust scale. Probably negative infinity, as far as Volthorn is concerned!

Volthorn is definitely justified in not trusting Durrin.

Where he is NOT justified is (1) failing to take any precautions to better protect the royal wing, just in case Durrin was telling the truth, and (2) failing to tell Adara, even though she had just raised her own concerns about her security.

Well done paying back the money for the horse! Durrin has learned that the price of his integrity is far beyond Ruby's.

This will go down in Elandria's history as the worst intelligence failure since the Star-Nosed Mole Infestation of 3097.

That one, I would like to point out, was NOT my fault. Though my great-great-great-great-great-great granduncle certainly should bear his share of the blame.

It just goes to show you: You can bring a korrik news of a conspiracy, but you can't make him bite.
